Tea, Wine and Whisky - Oh My!

Posted by Bob Barcus on December 8th, 2013

So it’s been well over a month since my last blog post. Unfortunately (or perhaps fortunately), I’ve been extremely busy with web design work and such. By the end of the day, I most definitely need to step away from the computer. I feel burned out.

Today, I tried relaxing a little bit and stopped by my Grandma Barcus’ house and visited with her. It always makes for an interesting conversation. Plus, it kept me away from the computer for a time.

Earlier, I had stopped by Kroger and procured some more tea. I’ve been drinking a lot of it lately and extensively using the good ol’ coffee maker to keep me supplied with hot water. I picked up Celestial Country Peach Passion and some more Chai tea. I must say that even though I went out of my way last Sunday to pick up some Yogi Egyptian Licorice tea, the peach tea today is simply awesome. Not only does it smell great, but it tastes great with a spoonful of honey mixed in. Wow!

Kroger actually has a pretty good selection of teas, although it seems to just be a rehash of the same flavors among several different brands. The Celestial brand has been on sale, so I’ve picked up at least 4 boxes of their tea in the last couple of weeks. My greatest disappointment of the day was when Grandma handed me a coupon for (guess what?) 75¢ off a box of Celestial tea. I felt defeated.

I’ve been sleeping poorly as of late. I’ll go to bed around nine o’clock and then end up awake around two or three in the morning. It’s getting old fast. I just lay in bed, hoping that I’ll fall back asleep. Hey, do you think it could be all that tea I’ve been drinking? It’s hard to tell, but most of the tea I’ve been drinking is caffeine free, so I don’t think that’s the problem.

Last night, I had a glass of wine before bed (don’t tell Grandma). I figured it might help me sleep, but I was wrong again. Tonight I’m going to try some “Sleepytime” tea I got in a sampler pack. If that doesn’t work, I’m going to have to take stronger measures – a.k.a. whisky (again, don’t tell Grandma!)

Actually, I think most of my troubles have been with my work. I’ve been under a lot of pressure lately with all of these projects. I think as soon as I get a couple of these bigger projects off my plate I’ll get back to my normal routine. Keeping my fingers crossed!
